Harvest Time
in the
Magic Valley
Fall is harvest time in the Magic Valley!
In the picture above we add the baler that bales the straw left by the thrasher.  The result is the large bale (approximately one ton) in the
foreground.  Straw is a valuable product also, as the dairies use it for bedding and wind protection for the cattle in the winter.
Here the thrasher extends the grain boom preparing to off-load the barley. The barley harvested in this field will go to be used as cattle
feed.  However much of the crops in the area will go to brewery's in the production of beer.
The thrasher offloads the grain to the grain wagon.
The boom on the grain wagon is used to transfer the grain to large trucks, where it is then transported to a grainery for storage.
